What he lacks in compassion for the sick, respect for human dignity, and any sort of verifiable formal training in medicine, Medic more than makes up for with a bottomless supply of giant needles and a trembling enthusiasm for plunging them into exposed flesh. Raised in Stuttgart, Germany during an era when the Hippocratic oath had been downgraded to an optional Hippocratic suggestion, Medic considers healing a generally unintended side effect of satisfying his own morbid curiosity.

On the whole, in spite of his reputation as a dangerous mercenary, Medic is an amicable, cheerful guy who can be silly, and even a little ditzy when he's caught up in a particularly exciting breakthrough. He maintains the same charming exuberance in everything he does, whether it's tending to his pet doves, patching up his teammates, or carving his way through somebody's rib cage with his bone saw.

CANONPOINT: Flexible! Probably some nebulous point after the sixth issue of the comics, or during the timeskip in the final issue. Valve doesn't give a shit about continuity and neither do I.

PHYSICAL CONTACT: Tentative yes! He’s pretty touchy-feely in a clinical sense, but anything beyond that depends on the CR.
FIGHTING: Hell yes.
INJURY/DEATH: HELL yes. He has a healing factor and immortality, courtesy of wretched science and magic respectively. Fuck him up bruh.
PSYCHIC/MINDREADING: Go for it. He has no defenses against either.

SHIPPING: Absolutely! It's what we're all here for, right? I play Medic as bisexual and a switch, so he has something to offer for just about anybody, provided you're just as crazy as he is.
CROSSCANON: Fine to assume your character already knows him as a mercenary, AU him under their employ, etc. I love playing with all types of characters from all types of canons, especially other Valve games. If I don't know your series, I'm happy to learn about it.
AUS: If it's some flavor of horror, there's a good chance I'll fuck with it. Also open to AUing him into a modern setting; thanks to his ill-begotten immortality, I'm fairly sure it's canon that Medic is still alive and well running around in the present day.

HEADCANON AND MISC. INFORMATION

✚ Medic's age hasn't been officially confirmed by Valve, but one can infer that he's around 50 years old during the events of The Naked and the Dead, based on his conversation with the Devil. Because the comics take place in 1972, this would mean he was born sometime in 1922, was 46 when he joined RED in 1968, and would be 57 during the timeskip that officially ends Team Fortress 2's story in 1979.

✚ I interpret Medic's ingame ability to passively regenerate health as a healing factor, likely the result of one of his experiments to augment his biology. It isn't perfect; fatalities like headshots and being ludicrously wounded to the extent that his body can't regenerate quickly enough (being burned alive, exploding, etc.) will pretty unambiguously kill him... but given his Faustian pact with the Devil, plus the fact that he has eight seven souls surgically grafted to his own, that doesn't mean he'll be gone for long.

✚ Also the result of his deal: He can't physically age anymore, which would explain why he still looks exactly the same during the seven year timeskip while the rest of the RED team is visibly older.

✚ Team Fortress 2 is a hat simulator first and a war-themed shooter second, where everyone has a range of dubiously canon cosmetic options to dress up in. For Medic, I'm super into the idea that he tends to wear the Blighted Beak while he's on the job. It hides his identity when he's trying to be discreet, and it looks neat.
